Welcome to Bridport!

Situated in West Dorset, Bridport is a buzzing, historic market town.

Surrounded by miles of beautiful coastlines and unspoilt countryside, Bridport is recognised as the gateway to the Jurrasic Coastline, a World Heritage Site.

The Arts Centre and Electric Palace play host to the talents of local and national artists and musicians and the Arts Centre is home to the world renowned “Bridport Prize”, an annual literary competition. Such institutions ensure that Bridport attracts many artists to the are drawn by the Jurassic Coast and the peaceful Dorset countryside. A saxon town in origin, Bridport became a town in its own right during the time of King John when its rope making industry began to flourish. The narrow, cobbled alley ways today are testament to this and provide a picturesque back drop for buzzing market days where a range of local produce can be purchased.

In fact, the quality and diversity of Bridport’s food production is such that it has been awarded Beacon Town Status and any visitor to the weekly Farmers Market or any of the numerous local eateries will understand why.

Bridport also has a strong cultural element with a range of exhibitions, displays and performances readily available.
