Lawn bowls in Bridport began in 1921 as a sub-section of the Cricket and Lawn Tennis Club, the Bowls section being to the South Dorset League in 1922 and affiliated to the Dorset County Bowling Association in 1926 The bowls section became independent in 1929 and moved to its present site in 1930 on land donated by the then, Club President, Mr W S Edwards.
